The Basics
Bride: Carly Itzcovitch
Groom: Carter Kerzner
Wedding Date: November 16, 2024 Location: Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal
Guest Count: 135 Planner: Amy Abbott Events (Amy Abbott + Cristina Rosefield)
How They Met
Carly and Carter were introduced through a mutual family friend and started chatting over Instagram. At the time, Carly lived in Calgary and Carter was based in Vancouver. Their first date happened during one of Carly’s weekend visits, and the connection was instant. From there, everything fell into place.
The Proposal
In August 2023, Carter proposed on the beach in the Hamptons, right in front of the hotel where they’d taken their first family vacation together. It was a quiet and meaningful moment that set the tone for the thoughtfully curated celebration to come.

The Venue
The couple chose Cabo for its sunshine, energy, and accessibility from Canada. Carly grew up vacationing in Puerto Vallarta and later fell in love with Cabo’s vibrant vibe. The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal offered everything they wanted: ocean and mountain views, contemporary elegance, next-level food, warm hospitality, and a luxe setting that felt both elevated and intimate.
Bonus: the guest room rates were surprisingly reasonable for such a prestigious resort, which was a major plus for friends and family flying in for the big weekend.

The Vision
“The vision was fun, beauty, and love,” Carly shares. “We wanted our wedding to feel serene and beautiful, but also like an absolute blast.”
With help from Amy and Cristina at Amy Abbott Events, that vision came to life across multiple days of events. Guests received custom welcome bags with chocolate from Carter’s family’s chocolatier, Rocky Mountain Chocolate, and personalized sun hats. The Shabbat dinner was a “Splash of Color” celebration, while the wedding day leaned into a chic palette of creams, whites, olives, and beiges—Carly dubbed it “50 Shades of Beige.”

A Waldorf Astoria Wedding Ceremony
Set on the beachfront, the couple was married beneath a stunning chuppah surrounded by white florals and soft, romantic lighting. Carly walked down the aisle to “It’s Your Love” by Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, while Carter entered to Elton John’s “Your Song.” A highlight? Fireworks arranged by the Waldorf lit up the sky post-ceremony—a surprise touch that brought out audible gasps and cheers.

The Reception
Carly and Carter’s reception was an elegant party under the stars. The decor mixed glowing candlelight, white florals, mirrored accents, and a touch of drama with statement chandeliers hung throughout the space. Guests danced all night to a DJ accompanied by live violin and sax, plus a surprise set from the groom’s best childhood friend, a member of the band Bob Moses.
Instead of a traditional cake, the couple opted for a dessert tower featuring cookies, cream puffs, cupcakes, and fruit—easy to grab between songs.

The Fashion
Carly wore a Galia Lahav “Catalina” gown with hundreds of embroidered 3D flowers and a matching veil. She paired it with rhinestone Christian Louboutin heels (a dream since childhood) and diamond jewelry gifted from the groom. Her late-night look? A Clio Peppiatt embellished mini dress with Gucci rhinestone sneakers for dancing.
Carter’s wedding-day look was a linen suit in beige and white, with custom embroidery and Louboutin loafers to match Carly’s red soles. His Friday night shirt was hand-painted with portraits of their two dogs—a surprise for Carly that had everyone talking.

The Extras
The couple also created a custom seating chart with handwritten cards, each personalized to every guest or couple. “We really wanted people to feel seen and appreciated,” Carly says. “So many made the effort to travel from Canada for us.”
One of the most talked-about moments? Carter’s brothers and his best friend—nicknamed the “fourth brother”—rewrote and performed a hilarious custom version of a song written by the fourth brother’s father, a professional songwriter.

The Planner’s Note
From Amy Abbott: “Carly and Carter are such a joy to work with. Carly had this chic, editorial vision with a playful, heart-filled approach. She knew what she wanted but also completely trusted the process. Watching their families and guests experience Waldorf in that setting—with fireworks, music, personalized details, and so much laughter—was the ultimate reward.”

Final Thoughts
Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal proved to be the perfect home base for a destination wedding that felt both personal and polished. If you’re looking for a setting that delivers elegance, top-tier service, and the kind of views you dream about—it doesn’t get better.
