How They Met

Lexie first spotted Luke in the law school library during her first semester. It was love at first sight—for her. But then, the world shut down. COVID hit just weeks later, and Lexie spent the next several months scheming up a plan to finally meet him. When classes resumed in person, she hosted a back-to-school party and invited Luke. That was it. The spark was instant, and the rest unfolded naturally.

The Proposal

Eleven months before their wedding, Luke surprised Lexie with a candlelit dinner in the garden of one of their favorite Houston restaurants—Tiny Boxwoods. Private. Thoughtful. Beautiful. He proposed under twinkle lights, and Lexie said yes.

The Wedding

Guest Count: 140
Date: February 24, 2024
Location: Querencia, Los Cabos, Mexico

Why Querencia Los Cabos?

For Lexie, Cabo has always been home away from home. Her family began vacationing there when she was a child and eventually bought a second home in Villas del Mar. When Luke came into the picture, he became part of the Cabo tradition—joining the Ammons family on every trip. Their favorite place? Querencia, Los Cabos. Choosing it as their venue was the easiest decision of the entire planning process.

The Aesthetic

No theme—just timeless elegance. Lexie and Luke were drawn to clean, romantic details that felt natural in the lush Cabo setting. They chose a classic white and green palette that blended seamlessly with the vibrant bougainvillea, trees, and tropical scenery. With guidance from their amazing wedding planners, Claudia and Pamela of Amy Abbott Events, the couple designed every element to enhance—not overpower—the location.

The Flowers

White roses. Everywhere. The floral installations by Cristina G above the head table and on the stage were show-stopping. Lexie called them her biggest splurge—and most worth-it investment.

Tablescape & Decor

The inspiration was rooted in luxury—elegant, sophisticated, and intimate. Mirrored place cards matched the welcome sign, and day-of paper goods by Bells and Whistles Los Cabos elevated every table with custom menus, signage, and thoughtful details that tied the full guest experience together.

Welcome Party Details

The welcome bags told a story: Garrett’s popcorn from Luke’s home state of Illinois, Texas pralines from Lexie, their favorite candies (Goldfish for Luke, Sour Patch Kids for Lexie), lottery tickets in a custom pouch that read “for richer or for poorer, but hopefully richer,” and a custom-designed wedding newspaper with crossword puzzles and their love story—playful, personal, and unforgettable.

Standout Moments

Lexie’s Favorites

  • When the music cut unexpectedly, guests didn’t miss a beat. They took over the dance floor singing “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” at the top of their lungs. Pure magic.
  • Her father’s speech. He reminded the couple that a spouse should be your best friend. Everyone cried.

Luke’s Favorites

  • The moment right after they cut the cake. Fireworks erupted behind them as they danced, wrapped in each other’s arms, surrounded by everyone they love—but somehow, it felt like it was just the two of them.
  • When their favorite song “Twin Flame” by Machine Gun Kelly played unexpectedly, they took the dance floor and finished the first dance they had originally skipped. A full-circle moment, just for them.

The Takeaway

Lexie and her mom obsessed over every detail, but what made it unforgettable wasn’t the florals, the dresses, or the fireworks—it was the people. “Our wedding day was the perfect combination of special, intimate moments and a full-on fiesta,” Lexie said. “If I had to sum it up in one word? Perfect.”
